Bridge 27A took the line over the Copper River from the west bank to the east bank. The line ran on the eaat bank for just a mile before it crossed over to the west bank again on Bridge 28A, the Round Island Channel bridge. This bridge had concrete abutments on a pile foundation:
Notice the railroad pile driver putting in the low-level piles. Here is a view of the finished bridge, one 300 foot and one 260-foot span.
It looks as though, unlike the other steel bridges, the approaches were completely filled here.
