Mile 1: Cordova Station And Trestles

According to the 1913 Alaska Railroad Commission Report, from the wharf, "The main track follows the bluff shore line to the southward on trestles". This situation is visible in the tinted postcard view here:

The wharf in the previous post is barely visible just below the center of the photo above, and over the peninsula at the lower left. The trestles are visible in the photo. The road that crosses the railroad and leads to the peninsla appears to be Nicholoff Way on modern maps of Cordova. The water area between the railroad trestle and the town appears to have been filled in very early, and the former railroad route appears to be Railroad Avenue in modern maps of Cordova.

The CR&NW passenger depot itself was not large. The caption on this photo says it shows a 1918 National Geographic Society expedition.

Without a good track diagram or valuation map, I'm not sure about the exact location of the depot and other railroad structures in this area.
